“The CMC Rope Rescue Technician I/II course is an information-packed 40-plus hour experience designed to build technicians ready to return to their agency as functional and safe members of a technical rescue cadre.
The course gives the opportunity to show proficiency in many of the requisite job performance requirements as outlined in Chapter 5 of NFPA 1006. This course is packed with fundamental material for rescuers in Fire Departments, Industrial, Mountain or Law Enforcement teams.
Students will be taught:
- Equipment standards, selection, inspection, and maintenance
- Knots and hitches
- Anchors
- Mechanical Advantage Systems and theory
- Raising, Lowering, and Belay Techniques
- Rappelling and passing knots on rappel
- Patient packaging, litter rigging, and litter tending
- Stranded person pickoffs
- Safety factors, fall factors, and consequences
Students should be prepared for both classroom discussions and full days of physical activity.
