MRA 2015 ICAR Terrestrial Report
This year the the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) met for its annual Congress in Killarney, Ireland, October 6-11, 2015.
ICAR provides a platform for mountain rescue and related organizations to disseminate knowledge with the prime goal of improving mountain rescue services and their safety. It is an independent, worldwide organization that respects its members and promotes international cooperation.
This year’s congress drew more than 400 rescuers from nearly 40 countries and from various parts of the rescue community, including medical, terrestrial, avalanche and air rescue. This report was submitted by the U.S. ICAR Terrestrial Commission Delegates, Dan Hourihan and Tom Woods, both from Mountain Rescue Association (MRA).
