Redirect Carabiner with the CLUTCH // CMC Pro Tip
In this CMC Pro Tip we show how to use a redirect carabiner for better ergonomics when lowering with the CLUTCH in an overhead configuration or restricted space. The ability to have different rigging configurations of the CLUTCH makes it one of the most adaptable and useful devices on the market.

There are times when the CLUTCH is suspended overhead or located tight against a wall in which the addition of a redirect carabiner is useful. The redirect carabiner allows for more ergonomic positioning of the rescuer in those conditions. The CLUTCH is rated to lower up to a 600 lb or 272 kg load without the need for a redirect carabiner, however some rescuers feel more comfortable using the redirect as a secondary friction carabiner, which is perfectly acceptable. The CLUTCH is rated for use with the redirect as well. The ability to have different rigging configurations of the CLUTCH makes it one of the most adaptable and useful devices on the market.
