BRUCE PARKER

Bruce Parker has more than 42 years’ experience in rope rescue, rapelling, confined space rescue, tower rescue, stage rigging and rescue, and mine rescue, as well as instructing custom classes for industry. Bruce is currently a member of the La Plata County Search and Rescue Team in Durango, Colorado. He also served 33 years as a reserve deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff ‘s Department on the Montrose Search and Rescue Team where he was a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Underground Search and Rescue Team and was a MSHA mine rescue instructor.

Bruce was the training and program development coordinator for Preparedness, Training and Development, Inc. He researched, designed, taught and coordinated several rescue programs for industry, including emergency response teams, rope rescue, confined space rescue, HAZWOPER, first aid, CPR training and EMT 1 training and recertification.

Bruce has also designed and published instructional and safety manuals for several organizations. He has been active in ASTM as a member of the Committee F32 writing standards for search and rescue.
