Rooted in Rescue: Beyond Rescue
As a Scout in his youth, and a lifelong search and rescue volunteer with Santa Barbara County SAR, Jim Frank’s legacy is one of integrity and dedication to safety. In his founding of California Mountain Company (CMC), he sought to create a company for the rescue community, a place where rescuers could readily acquire the industry’s best tools and training for their operations.
What began in 1978 as a small venture to source gear is today an employee-owned business that designs and develops the world’s most trusted life safety equipment and education, and proudly manufactures most of our products domestically in our ISO-Certified Goleta, CA facility.
Our history and heritage have provided a solid foundation for CMC, instilling in our company over the past 40 years a single purpose to help save lives. Our mission is to innovate the equipment and education to keep people safe while working at height in any industry where professionals use rope, rope systems, and other personal protective equipment (PPE). Over the years, the quality, dependability, and integrity of our products has extended their usefulness far beyond our original rescue community to all professionals working at height, so they can perform their jobs with greater safety and efficiency, and get home safely.
In 2018, we’re excited to unveil an update to our brand and online experience that reflects our role as a more universal life safety company, with new products that signify a future of even greater innovation for our customers. We are dedicated and passionate employee-owners committed to evolving an even better CMC for those who want and need the best in life safety equipment and education. We will continue to work diligently in everything we do to earn the trust of the professionals who choose CMC.
